Born and bred in the UK, a southern girl with a Hogwarts worthy accent, Esther was born with a raging river of creativity gushing through her, a deep desire to perform and create through the natural expression of art in all of its various shades, forms and facets. Performance came very naturally to Esther and the first few years of her life were spent parading in front of the camera and following her Grandpa around (John Robinson) who naturally excelled as a portrait photographer alongside his profession as a doctor. The Robinson and now Classey family spent the first few years of Esthers life in the family home on the beautiful riverside borough of Barnes in London. John was constantly photographing the family and this was the beginning of Esthers passion (and obsession) with being in front of and behind the camera.
Esther excelled in the arts and was awarded scholarships in performance, theatre and she won distinction through the Trinity School of Music for the highest award in classical singing along with straight A’s in Music, Theatre, Art and Photography. Esthers professional journey started in classic bohemian style earning her reluctant dues with 3 am starts and hand built sets, the trauma of manual labor (joke) was offset by being surrounded by a beautiful group of very talented people and just reaffirmed her love for the artistic community at large and for the theatre (darling). After her run with the company she returned to London and as luck and destiny would have it she got offered through a dear friend a very coveted job at the Royal Opera House as an assistant dresser for the Royal Ballet, I mean it was an iconic side gig as a new actor especially as Esther had a (at that point suppressed) a deep affinity and love for dance, which she would later rediscover. Now a proud equity member Esther began the excruciating audition process in London and again as luck would have it she started to work on some larger scale films including Brideshead Revisited starring Emma Thompson (what a beautiful person) and Last Chance Harvey starring Dustin Hoffman. Creating original work was also something that Esther was naturally gifted at, (she wrote her first short musical at 16) before a whirlwind romance with her ex husband and almost overnight move to NYC Esther co produced and co starred in a sold out original show of the off off broadway production of The Amazing Pineapple Escape.
Fast forward thirteen years and Esther has now made NYC her home and has spent those years building a wealth of creative experience; shooting professionally as a portrait, wedding and production photographer (credits above) studying acting at The Barrow Group Theatre Company as an apprentice, producing her first very successful short film “Miss Connected” and co producing her first immersive dance project, a developmental production of innovative work with New York City Ballet Artists as part of the dance film “The Moth” (formerly known as “Meta” now in development with “Caught A Black Rabbit Productions”). After co writing a pilot and short Abi is now venturing into writing and producing her first solo tv project (by “Caught A Black Rabbit Productions”) plans are to start filming in early 2025.
Esther has the training, experience and a very unique perspective within a diverse portfolio of work that spans twenty years. You can expect to feel really taken care of throughout the whole process and Esthers hope is that you leave feeling connected, inspired and with an expanded view of your greatness and new perspectives of your potential.
A note from Esther….
“I shoot until we have it, natural light in and out. A few hours in and around the Bushwick studio there is also a beautiful deck for warmer days.
I’m there to hold your hand as much or as little as you want throughout the whole process. It’s very personal and important for me to help you succeed. There will be nothing formal about working with me and the whole process will be extremely free flowing, collaborative and creative. I have exceptionally high standards for your experience. I cannot wait”
